Purifying Oxygenating Moisturizing

The dosage should be individualized, depending upon the degree of tranquilization required. As a general rule, the dosage requirement in mg/lb of body weight decreases as the weight of the animal increases.

Acepromazine Maleate Injection may be given intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The following schedule may be used as a guide to IV, IM or SC injections:
Dogs: 0.25–0.5 mg/lb of body weight Cats: 0.5–1 mg/lb of body weight Horses: 2–4 mg/100 lb of body weight
IV doses should be administered slowly, and a period of at least 15 minutes should be allowed for the drug to take full effect.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE: Orally - 1 to 2 g of phenylbutazone per 500 lb. of body weight daily. Do not exceed 4 g daily.

Guidelines to Successful Therapy: Use a relatively high dose for the first 48 hours, then reduce gradually to a maintenance dose. Maintain lowest dose capable of producing desired clinical response. Response to Phenylbutazone Paste therapy is prompt, usually occurring within 24 hours. If no significant clinical effect is evident after five days, re-evaluate diagnosis and therapeutic approach.

When administering Phenylbutazone Paste, the oral cavity should be empty. Deposit paste on back of tongue by depressing plunger that has been previously set to deliver the correct dose. Many chronic conditions will respond to Phenylbutazone Paste therapy, but discontinuance of treatment may result in recurrence of symptoms.

Therapy with DEXAMETHASONE INJECTION 2 mg/mL, as with any other potent corticosteroid, should be individualized according to the severity of the condition being treated, anticipated duration of steroid therapy, and teh animal's threshold or tolerance for steroid excess.

Treatment may be changed over to DEXAMETHASONE INJECTION2 mg/mL from any other glucocorticoid with proper reduction or adjustment of dosage.

Bovine - DEXAMETHASONE INJECTION 2 mg/mL - 5 to 20 mg intravenously or intramuscularly.

Dexamethasone Powder may be administered or the parenteral dose repeated as needed.

Equine - DEXAMETHASONE INJECTION 2 mg/mL - 2.5 to 5 mg intravenously or intramuscularly.

HORSES INTRAVENOUSLY: 1 to 2 g per 1,000 lbs of body weight (5 to 10 mL/1,000 lbs) daily. Injection should be given slowly and with care. Limit intravenous administration to a maximum of 5 successive days, which may be followed by oral phenylbutazone dosage forms.

In some cases, treatment may be given only when symptoms appear with no need for continuous medication. If long-term therapy is planned, oral administration is suggested.4. Many chronic conditions will respond to phenylbutazone therapy, but discontinuance of treatment may result in recurrence of symptoms.

Ketaject is well tolerated by cats and subhuman primates when administered by intramuscular injection.

Fasting prior to induction of anesthesia or restraint with Ketaject is not essential; however, when preparing for elective surgery, it is advisable to withhold food for at least six hours prior to administration of Ketaject.

Anesthesia may be of shorter duration in immature cats. Restraint in subhuman primate neonates (less than 24 hours of age) is difficult to achieve.

As with other anesthetic agents, the individual response to Ketaject is somewhat varied depending upon the dose, general condition and age of the subject so that dosage recommendations cannot be absolutely fixed.

Dosage –

Cats: A dose of 11 mg/kg (5 mg/lb) is recommended to produce restraint. Dosages from 22 to 33 mg/kg (10 to 15 mg/lb) produce anesthesia that is suitable for diagnostic or minor surgical procedures that do not require skeletal muscle relaxation.

Subhuman Primates: The recommended restraint dosages of Ketaject for the following species are: Cercocebus torquatus (white-collared mangabey), Papio cynocephalus (yellow baboon), Pantroglodytes verus (chimpanzee), Papio anubis (olive baboon), Pongo pygmaeus (orangutan), Macaca nemestrina (pig-tailed macaque) 5 to 7.5 mg/kg; Presbytis entellus (entellus langur) 3 to 5 mg/kg; Gorilla gorilla gorilla (gorilla) 7 to 10 mg/kg; Aotus trivirgatus (night monkey) 10 to 12 mg/kg; Macaca mulatta (rhesus monkey) 5 to 10 mg/kg; Cebus capucinus (white-throated capuchin) 13 to 15 mg/kg; and Macaca fascicularis (crab-eating macaque), Macaca radiata (bonnet macaque) and Saimiri sciureus (squirrel monkey) 12 to 15 mg/kg.

A single intramuscular injection produces restraint suitable for TB testing, radiography, physical examination or blood collection.

Premedication: A premedication regimen, which may be employed depending upon the patient status, to avert excitement during induction, might include an anticholinergic, a tranquilizer, a muscle relaxant and a short-acting barbiturate.

Inspired Concentration: The delivered concentration of Isoflurane, USP should be known. Isoflurane may be vaporized using a flow-through vaporizer specifically calibrated for isoflurane. Vaporizers delivering a saturated vapor which then is diluted (e.g. Verni-trol® vaporizer) also may be used. The delivered concentration from such a vaporizer may be calculated using the formula:

Where: PA = Pressure of atmosphere PV = Vapor pressure of isoflurane FV = Flow of gas through vaporizer (mL/min) FT = Total gas flow used (mL/min)

Isoflurane contains no stabilizer. Nothing in the drug product alters calibration or operation of these vaporizers.

Induction:

Horses: Inspired concentrations of 3.0 to 5.0% isoflurane alone with oxygen following a barbiturate anesthetic induction are usually employed to induce surgical anesthesia in the horse.

Dogs: Inspired concentrations of 2.0 to 2.5% isoflurane alone with oxygen following a barbiturate anesthetic induction are usually employed to induce surgical anesthesia in the dog.

These concentrations can be expected to produce surgical anesthesia in 5 to 10 minutes.

Maintenance: The concentration of vapor necessary to maintain anesthesia is much less than that required to induce it.

Horses: Surgical levels of anesthesia in the horse may be sustained with a 1.5 to 1.8% concentration of isoflurane in oxygen.

Dogs: Surgical levels of anesthesia in the dog may be sustained with a 1.5 to 1.8% concentration of isoflurane in oxygen.

The level of blood pressure during maintenance is an inverse function of isoflurane concentration in the absence of other complicating problems. Excessive decreases, unless related to hypovolemia, may be due to depth of anesthesia and in such instances may be corrected by lightening the level of anesthesia.

Recovery from isoflurane anesthesia is typically uneventful.2

The keystone of satisfactory therapeutic management with PrednisTab prednisolone tablets, as with other steroid predecessors, is individualization of dosage in reference to the severity of the disease, the anticipated duration of steroid therapy, and the animal patient's threshold or tolerance for steroid excess. The prime objective of steroid therapy should be to achieve a satisfactory degree of control with a minimum effective daily dose.

The dosage recommendations are suggested average total daily doses and are intended as guides. As with other orally administered corticosteroids, the total daily dose of prednisolone should be given in equally divided doses. The initial suppressive dose level is continued until a satisfactory clinical response is obtained, a period usually of 2 to 7 days in the case of musculoskeletal diseases, allergic conditions affecting the skin or respiratory tract, and ocular inflammatory diseases. If a satisfactory response is not obtained in 7 days, reevaluation of the case to confirm the original diagnosis should be made. As soon as a satisfactory clinical response is obtained, the daily dose should be reduced gradually, either to termination of treatment in the case of acute conditions (e.g., seasonal asthma, dermatitis, acute ocular inflammations) or to the minimal effective maintenance dose level in the case of chronic conditions (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis). In chronic conditions, and in rheumatoid arthritis especially, it is important that the reduction in dosage from initial to maintenance dose levels be accomplished slowly. The maintenance dose level should be adjusted from time to time as required by fluctuation in the activity of the disease and the animal's general status. Accumulated experience has shown that the long-term benefits to be gained from continued steroid maintenance are probably greater the lower the maintenance dose level. In rheumatoid arthritis in particular, maintenance steroid therapy should be at the lowest possible level.

Important: In the therapeutic management of animal patients with chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, prednisolone should be regarded as a highly valuable adjunct, to be used in conjunction with, but not as replacement for, standard therapeutic measures.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Duration of treatment will depend upon the severity of the condition and the response obtained. The duration of treatment and/or frequency of the dosage may be reduced, but care should be taken not to discontinue therapy prematurely.

Otitis externa – The external ear and ear canal should be properly cleaned and dried before treatment. Remove foreign material, debris, crusted exudates, etc., with suitable nonirritating solution. Excessive hair should be clipped from the treatment area of the external ear. Instill 3 to 8 drops of Gentamicin Sulfate with Betamethasone Valerate Otic Solution (approximately room temperature) into the ear canal twice daily for seven to fourteen days.

Superficial infected lesions – The lesion and adjacent area should be properly cleaned before treatment. Excessive hair should be removed. Apply a sufficient amount of Gentamicin Sulfate with Betamethasone Valerate Otic Solution to cover the treatment area twice daily seven to fourteen days.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Prior to treatment, remove excessive hair and clean the lesion and adjacent area. Hold bottle upright 3 to 6inches from the lesion and depress the sprayer head twice. Administer 2 to 4 times daily for 7 days.

Each depression of the sprayer head delivers 0.7 mL of Gentamicin Sulfate with Betamethasone Valerate Topical Spray.
