BEEF CATTLE AND NON-LACTATING DAIRY CATTLE—

Inject intramuscularly 8 mg per pound of body weight one time daily (1 mL per 6.25 pounds). Treatment should be continued 24 hours following remission of disease signs, not to exceed 5 days. Do not inject more than 10 mL per site.

This formulation is recommended for use in calves weighing less than 200 pounds.

Chickens should be treated for three days; however, treatment may be administered for one to five days depending upon severity of infection. Treated chickens must consume enough medicated water to provide 50 mg per pound of body weight per day. Only medicated water should be available to the birds.

Turkeys should be treated for three days; however, treatment may be administered for two to five days depending upon severity of infection. Treated turkeys must consume enough medicated water to provide 60 mg per pound of body weight per day. Only medicated water should be available to the birds.

Swine For the treatment and control of swine dysentery medicate with 250 mg tylosin per gallon in drinking water for 3 to 10 days, depending upon severity of infection. Alternatively, medicate with 250 mg tylosin per gallon in drinking water for 3 to 10 days, followed by 40 to 100 g tylosin per ton of complete feed (Type C medicated feed manufactured from TYLAN Type A medicated article) for 2 to 6 weeks. For control of porcine proliferative enteropathies (PPE, ileitis) medicate with 250 mg tylosin per gallon in drinking water for 3 to 10 days, followed by 40 to 100 g of tylosin per ton of complete feed (Type C medicated feed manufactured from TYLAN Type A medicated article) for 2 to 6 weeks. Swine must consume enough medicated water to provide a therapeutic dose. Only medicated water (250 mg tylosin per gallon) should be available while medicating with TYLAN Soluble.

Honey Bee colonies should receive three treatments administered as a dust in confectioners/powdered sugar. The 200 mg dose is applied (dusted) over the top bars of the brood chamber once weekly for 3 weeks.

Notice: Organisms vary in their degree of susceptibility to any chemotherapeutic. If no improvement is observed after recommended treatment, diagnosis and susceptibility should be reconfirmed.

TRIFEXIS is given orally, once a month at the minimum dosage of 13.5 mg/lb (30 mg/kg) spinosad and 0.2 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) milbemycin oxime body weight. For heartworm prevention, give once monthly for at least 3 months after exposure to mosquitoes (see EFFECTIVENESS).

Administer TRIFEXIS with food for maximum effectiveness. To ensure heartworm prevention, owners should observe the dog for one hour after dosing. If vomiting occurs within an hour of administration, redose with another full dose. If a dose is missed and a monthly interval between doses is exceeded, then immediate administration of TRIFEXIS with food and resumption of monthly dosing will minimize the opportunity for the development of adult heartworm infections and flea reinfestations.

Heartworm Prevention:

TRIFEXIS should be administered at monthly intervals beginning within 1 month of the dog's first seasonal exposure and continuing until at least 3 months after the dog's last seasonal exposure to mosquitoes (see EFFECTIVENESS). TRIFEXIS may be administered year round without interruption. When replacing another heartworm preventative product, the first dose of TRIFEXIS should be given within a month of the last dose of the former medication.

Flea Treatment and Prevention:

Treatment with TRIFEXIS may begin at any time of the year, preferably starting one month before fleas become active and continuing monthly through the end of flea season. In areas where fleas are common year round, monthly treatment with TRIFEXIS should continue the entire year without interruption.

To minimize the likelihood of flea reinfestation, it is important to treat all animals within a household with an approved flea protection product.

Intestinal Nematode Treatment and Control:

TRIFEXIS also provides treatment and control of roundworms (T. canis, T. leonina), hookworms (A. caninum) and whipworms (T. vulpis). Dogs may be exposed to and can become infected with roundworms, whipworms and hookworms throughout the year, regardless of season or climate. Clients should be advised of measures to be taken to prevent reinfection with intestinal parasites.

Swine: Tilmicosin is to be fed continuously at 181 grams to 363 grams per ton (200 ppm to 400 ppm) of Type C medicated feed as the sole ration for a 21-day period, beginning approximately 7 days before an anticipated disease outbreak.

Cattle: Tilmicosin is to be fed continuously for a single, 14 day period at 568 grams to 757 grams (626 ppm to 834 ppm) per ton on a 100% dry matter basis of Type C medicated feed as the sole ration to provide 12.5 mg tilmicosin/kg/head/day.

IMPORTANT: Must be thoroughly mixed in swine or cattle feeds before use.

Liquid Type B and C medicated feeds containing melengestrol acetate must have a pH of 4.0 to 8.0 and their labels must bear appropriate mixing directions. Mixing directions for liquid Type B (or C) feeds stored in recirculation tank systems are: “Recirculate immediately prior to use for no less than 10 minutes, moving not less than 1 percent of the tank contents per minute from the bottom of the tank to the top. Recirculate daily, as directed in this paragraph even when the Type B (or C) feed is not used.” Mixing directions for liquid Type B and C feeds stored in mechanical, air or other agitation-type tank systems are: “Agitate immediately prior to use for not less than 10 minutes, creating a turbulence at the bottom of the tank that is visible at the top. Agitate daily, as directed in this paragraph, even when the Type B (or C) feed is not used.”

Intermediate premixes should not be made from HEIFERMAX® 500 except as a part of a continuous mixing operation to make a complete liquid Type B (or C) medicated feed.

Thoroughly mix 0.5 to 4 pounds of HEIFERMAX® 500 per ton of a non-medicated feed to prepare a Type C medicated feed containing 0.25 to 2.0 grams of melengestrol acetate per ton. The following table may be used as a guide in determining the amount of HEIFERMAX® 500 to be added to prepare a ton of Type C medicated feed.

Type B medicated feed containing 4 to 10 grams melengestrol acetate per ton may be manufactured by thoroughly mixing 8 to 20 lbs of HEIFERMAX® 500 with 1992 to 1980 lbs of non-medicated feed. Labeling for such Type B feed shall contain directions for manufacturing Type C medicated feeds containing 0.25 to 2.0 grams melengestrol acetate per ton (0.125 to 1.0 mg/lb). The Type C medicated feed, containing melengestrol acetate, must be top dressed on grain or roughage or mixed with a complete ration at the rate of 0.5 to 2.0 pounds per head per day.

Good manufacturing practice regulations must be adhered to in manufacturing feeds containing HEIFERMAX® 500.
