Administer Hexasol Injection once as an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of 1 mL per 22 lb body weight (13.6 mg oxytetracycline and 0.9 mg flunixin per lb BW). Do not administer more than 10 mL per injection site (1 to 2 mL per site in small calves). Hexasol Injection is recommended where retreatment of calves and yearlings is impractical due to husbandry conditions, such as cattle on range, or where their repeated restraint is inadvisable.

A thoroughly cleaned, sterile needle and syringe should be used for each injection (needles and syringes may be sterilized in boiling water for 15 minutes).Before withdrawing the solution from the bottle, disinfect the rubber cap top with 70% alcohol. The injection site should be similarly disinfected with alcohol. Needles of 16 to 18 gauge and 1 to 1.5 inches long are adequate for intramuscular injections.

In livestock intramuscular injections should be made by directing the needle of suitable gauge and length into the fleshy part of a thick muscle, such as rump, hip, or thigh region; avoid blood vessels and major nerves. Before injecting the solution, pull back gently on the plunger. If blood appears in the syringe, a blood vessel has been entered; withdraw the needle and select a different site.

Carefully consider the potential benefits and risk of Loxicom and other treatment options before deciding to use Loxicom. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response.

Dogs: Loxicom 5 mg/mL Solution for Injection should be administered initially as a single dose at 0.09 mg/lb (0.2 mg/kg) body weight intravenously (IV) or subcutaneously (SQ), followed, after 24 hours, by meloxicam oral suspension at the daily dose of 0.045 mg/lb (0.1 mg/kg) body weight, either mixed with food or placed directly in the mouth.

Carefully consider the potential benefits and risk of Loxicom and other treatment options before deciding to use Loxicom. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response.

Cats: Administer a single, one-time subcutaneous dose of Loxicom® 5 mg/mL Solution for Injection to cats at a dose of 0.14 mg/lb (0.3 mg/kg) body weight. Use of additional moloxicam or other NSAIDs is contraindicated. (See Contraindications). To ensure accuracy of dosing, the use of a 1 mL graduated syringe is recommended.

For treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) and bovine interdigital phlegmon (foot rot): Norfenicol Injectable Solution should be administered by intramuscular injection to cattle at a dose rate of 20 mg/kg body weight (3 mL/100 lbs). A second dose should be administered 48 hours later. Alternatively, Norfenicol Injectable Solution can be administered by a single subcutaneous (SC) injection to cattle at a dose rate of 40 mg/kg body weight (6 mL/100 lbs). Do not administer more than 10 mL at each site. The injection should be given only in the neck. NOTE: Intramuscular injection may result in local tissue reaction which persists beyond 28 days. This may result in trim loss of edible tissue at slaughter. Tissue reaction at injection sites other than the neck is likely to be more severe.

For control of respiratory disease in cattle at high-risk of developing BRD: Norfenicol Injectable Solution should be administered by a single subcutaneous injection to cattle at a dose rate of 40 mg/kg body weight (6 mL/100lbs). Do not administer more than 10 mL at each site. The injection should be given only in the neck.

Recommended Injection Location

Clinical improvement should be evident in most treated subjects within 24 hours of initiation of treatment. If a positive response is not noted within 72 hours of initiation of treatment, the diagnosis should be re-evaluated.

A thoroughly cleaned, sterile needle and syringe should be used for each injection (needles and syringes may be sterilized by boiling in water for 15 minutes).

Before withdrawing the solution from the bottle, disinfect the rubber cap on the bottle with a suitable disinfectant, such as 70% alcohol. The injection site should be similarly cleaned with the disinfectant. Needles of 14 to 16 gauge and not more than 1 inch long are adequate for injections. A subcutaneous injection should be made by pinching up a fold of the skin between the thumb and forefinger. The mid-neck region is the preferred injection site. Insert the needle under the fold in a direction approximately parallel to the surface of the body. When the needle is inserted in this manner the medication will be delivered underneath the skin between the skin and the muscles. Proper restraint, such as the use of a chute and nose lead is needed for proper administration of the product.

Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response. Loxicom Oral Suspension should be administered initially at 0.09 mg/lb (0.2 mg/kg) body weight only on the first day of treatment. For all treatments after day 1, Loxicom Oral Suspension should be administered once daily at a dose of 0.045 mg/lb (0.1 mg/ kg). The syringes are calibrated to deliver the daily maintenance dose in lbs. Because the first dose (0.2 mg/kg) is two times the amount of the daily maintenance dose (0.1 mg/kg), two syringes containing the 0.1 mg/kg dose should be administered at the first dose.

Enroflox Injection for Dogs may be used as the initial dose at 2.5 mg/kg. It should be administered intramuscularly (IM) as a single dose, followed by initiation of enrofloxacin tablet therapy.

The lower limit of the dose range was based on efficacy studies in dogs where enrofloxacin was administered at 2.5 mg/kg twice daily. Target animal safety and toxicology studies were used to establish the upper limit of the dose range and treatment duration.

Enroflox 100 provides flexible dosages and durations of therapy. Enroflox 100 may be administered as a single dose for one day for treatment and control of BRD (cattle) and SRD (swine), or for multiple days for BRD treatment (cattle). Selection of the appropriate dose and duration of therapy for BRD treatment in cattle should be based on an assessment of the severity of the disease, pathogen susceptibility and clinical response.

Cattle:

Single-Dose Therapy (BRD Treatment): Administer, by subcutaneous injection, a single dose of 7.5-12.5 mg/kg of body weight (3.4-5.7 mL/100 lb).

Multiple-Day Therapy (BRD Treatment): Administer daily, a subcutaneous dose of 2.5-5 mg/kg of body weight (1.1-2.3 mL/100 lb). Treatment should be repeated at 24-hour intervals for three days. Additional treatments may be given on Days 4 and 5 to animals that have shown clinical improvement but not total recovery.

Single-Dose Therapy (BRD Control): Administer, by subcutaneous injection, a single dose of 7.5 mg/kg of body weight (3.4 mL/100 lb).

Examples of conditions that may contribute to calves being at high risk for developing BRD include, but are not limited to, the following:
Transportation with animals from two or more farm origins. An extended transport time with few to no rest stops. An environmental temperature change of ≥30°F during transportation. A ≥30°F range in temperature fluctuation within a 24-hour period. Exposure to wet or cold weather conditions. Excessive shrink (more than would be expected with a normal load of cattle). Stressful arrival processing procedures (e.g. castration or dehorning). Exposure within the prior 72 hours to animals showing clinical signs of BRD.
Administered dose volume should not exceed 20 mL per injection site.
