DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Chickens and Turkeys: To assure thorough dissolution, place the Tylosin Tartrate Soluble Powder (contents of this pouch) in a mixing container and add one gallon of water (3700 ml) to the material. Mix this concentrated solution with water to make 50 gallons (189 liters) of treated dinking water.

Swine: To assure thorough dissolution, place the Tylosin Tartrate Soluble Powder (contents of this pouch) in a mixing container and add one gallon of water (3700 ml) to the material. Mix this concentrated solution with water to make 400 gallons (1514 liters) of treated drinking water resulting in 250 mg/gallon.

Honey Bees: Mix 200 mg tylosin in 20 g confectioners/powdered sugar. Use immediately.

When directed to mix the product with water, always add the water to the powder. Do not pour the powder into the water. Prepare a fresh Tylosin Tartrate Soluble Powder solution every three days. When mixing and handling tylosin, use protective clothing and impervious gloves.

Terra-vet 200

Cattle: Terra-Vet™ 200 is to be administered by intramuscular, subcutaneous (SC, under the skin) or intravenous injection to beef cattle; dairy cattle; and calves, including preruminating (veal) calves. A single dosage of 9 mg of Terra-Vet™ 200 per lb of body weight administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously is recommended in the treatment of the following conditions:
bacterial pneumonia caused by Pasteurella spp. (shipping fever) in calves and yearlings, where retreatment is impractical due to husbandry conditions, such as cattle on range, or where repeated restraint is inadvisable. infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (pink eye) caused by Moraxella bovis.
Terra-Vet™ 200 can also be administered by intravenous, subcutaneous, or intramuscular injection at a level of 3-5 mg of oxytetracycline per lb of body weight per day. In the treatment of severe foot rot and advanced cases of other indicated diseases, a dosage level of 5 mg/lb of body weight per day is recommended. Treatment should be continued 24-48 hours following remission of disease signs; however, not to exceed a total of 4 consecutive days. Consult your veterinarian if improvement is not noted within 24-48 hours of the beginning of treatment.

Swine: A single dosage of 9 mg of Terra-Vet™ 200 per lb of body weight administered intramuscularly in the neck region is recommended in the treatment of bacterial pneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida in swine, where re-treatment is impractical due to husbandry conditions or where repeated restraint is inadvisable.

Terra-Vet™ 200 can also be administered by intramuscular injection at a level of 3-5 mg of oxytetracycline per lb of body weight per day. Treatment should be continued 24-48 hours following remission of disease signs; however, not to exceed a total of 4 consecutive days. Consult your veterinarian if improvement is not noted within 24-48 hours of the beginning of treatment.

For sows, administer once intramuscularly in the neck region 3 mg of oxytetracycline per lb of body weight approximately 8 hours before farrowing or immediately after completion of farrowing.

For swine weighing 25 lb of body weight and under, Terra-Vet™ 200 should be administered undiluted for treatment at 9 mg/lb but should be administered diluted for treatment at 3 or 5 mg/lb.

* To prepare dilutions, add one part of Terra-Vet™ 200 to 3, 5, or 7 parts of sterile water, or 5% dextrose solution as indicated; the diluted product should be used immediately.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: The recommended dose of flunixin meglumine is 0.5 mg per lb of body weight once daily. The VetaMeg™ Equine Paste syringe, calibrated in twelve 250-lb weight increments, delivers 125 mg of flunixin for each 250 lbs (see dosage table). One syringe will treat a 1000-lb horse once daily for 3 days, or three 1000-lb horses one time.

The paste is orally administered by inserting the nozzle of the syringe through the interdental space, and depositing the required amount of paste on the back of the tongue by depressing the plunger.

Treatment may be given initially by intravenous or intramuscular injection of VetaMeg™ Injectable Solution, followed by VetaMeg™ Equine Paste on Days 2 to 5. Flunixin meglumine treatment should not exceed 5 consecutive days.

TOXICITY: No toxic effects were observed in rats given oral flunixin meglumine 2 mg/kg per day for 42 days. Higher doses produced ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract. The emetic dose in dogs is between 150 and 250 mg/kg. Flunixin was well tolerated in monkeys dosed daily with 4 mg/kg for 56 days. No adverse effects occurred in horses dosed orally with 1.0 or 1.5 mg/lb for 5 consecutive days.

Guidelines to Successful Therapy: Use a relatively high dose for the first 48 hours, then reduce gradually to a maintenance dose. Maintain lowest dose capable of producing desired clinical response. Response to Phenylbutazone Paste therapy is prompt, usually occurring within 24 hours. If no significant clinical effect is evident after five days, re-evaluate diagnosis and therapeutic approach.

When administering Phenylbutazone Paste, the oral cavity should be empty. Deposit paste on back of tongue by depressing plunger that has been previously set to deliver the correct dose. Many chronic conditions will respond to Phenylbutazone Paste therapy, but discontinuance of treatment may result in recurrence of symptoms.

For arthritis or mycoplasma pneumonia-5 mg per pound of body weight intramuscularly once daily for three to seven days as needed. When using Lincomycin Injectable containing 25 mg/mL, 1 mL/5 lb. body weight will provide 5 mg/lb. When using Lincomycin Injectable containing 100 mg/mL, 1 mL/20 lb body weight will provide 5 mg/lb. When using Lincomycin Injectable containing 300 mg/mL, 1 mL/60 lb. body weight will provide 5 mg/lb.
For optimal results, initiate treatment as soon as possible. As with any multi-dose vial, practice aseptic techniques in withdrawing each does. Adequately clean and disinfect the vial closure prior to entry with a sterile needle and syringe. No vial closure should be entered more than 20 times.

Ivermax Plus For Cattle

Ivermax® Plus (ivermectin and clorsulon) Injection is to be given subcutaneously only. Animals should be appropriately restrained to achieve the proper route of administration. Use of a 16-gauge, 1/2" to 3/4" sterile needle is recommended.

Inject the solution subcutaneously (under the skin) behind the shoulder (see illustration).

Any single-dose syringe or standard automatic syringe equipment may be used with the 50 mL or 100 mL pack size. When using the 250 mL, 500 mL or 1000 mL pack size, use only automatic syringe equipment.

Use sterile equipment and sanitize the injection site by applying a suitable disinfectant. Clean, properly disinfected needles should be used to reduce the potential for injection site infections. No special handling or protective clothing is necessary. The viscosity of the product increases in cool temperatures. Administering Ivermax® Plus at temperatures of 5 °C (41 °F) or below may be difficult. Users can make dosing easier by warming both the product and injection equipment to about 15 °C (59 °F).

The dispensing cap is graduated in 5 mL increments. Each 5 mL will treat 110 lbs body weight. When body weight is between markings, use the next higher increment. Attach the dispensing cap to the bottle. Select the correct dose rate by rotating the adjuster top in either direction to position the dose indicator to the appropriate level. Hold the bottle upright and gently squeeze it to deliver a slight excess of the required dose as indicated by the calibration lines. By releasing the pressure, the dose automatically adjusts to the correct level. Tilt the bottle to deliver the dose. The “closed-off-shut” position will close the system between dosing. If the animal being treated weighs more than 550 lbs (250 kg), refill the dispensing cap to the additional amount required to provide the total dose for that animal and apply as directed.

Attach the hose from the automatic dosing equipment to the outlet from the vent cap. When the interval between use of the applicator gun is expected to exceed 12 hours, disconnect the gun, draw off tubing and dip tub and cap from the product container, empty the product from the gun and tubing back into the container and replace the shipping cap.

Mode of Action

Ivermectin is a member of the macrocylic lactone class of endectocides which have a unique mode of action. Compounds of the class bind selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels which occur in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells.

This leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions with hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite. Compounds of this class may also interact with other ligand-gated chloride channels, such as those gated by the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

The margin of safety for compounds of this class is attributable to the fact that mammals do not have glutamate-gated chloride channels, the macrocylic lactones have a low affinity for other mammalian ligand-gated chloride channels and they do not readily cross the blood-brain barrier.

Animal Safety

Studies conducted in the U.S.A. have demonstrated the safety margin for ivermectin. Based on plasma levels, the topically applied formulation is expected to be at least as well tolerated by breeding animals as is the subcutaneous formulation which had no effect on breeding performance.

RESIDUE INFORMATION: Cattle must not be treated within 48 days of slaughter for human consumption. Because a withdrawal time in milk has not been established, do not use in female dairy cattle of breeding age. A withdrawal period has not been established for this product in pre-ruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

WARNING! NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS.

This product should not be applied to self or others because it may be irritating to human skin and eyes and absorbed through the skin. To minimize accidental skin contact, the user should wear a long-sleeved shirt and rubber gloves. If accidental skin contact occurs, wash immediately with soap and water. If accidental eye exposure occurs, flush eyes immediately with water and seek medical attention.

Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children.

HORSES INTRAVENOUSLY: 1 to 2 g per 1,000 lbs of body weight (5 to 10 mL/1,000 lbs) daily. Injection should be given slowly and with care. Limit intravenous administration to a maximum of 5 successive days, which may be followed by oral phenylbutazone dosage forms.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: This syringe contains sufficient paste to treat one 125O lb horse at the recommended dose rate of 91 mcg ivermectin per lb (200 mcg/kg) body weight. Each weight marking on the syringe plunger delivers enough paste to treat 250 lb body weight.

(1) While holding plunger, turn the knurled ring on the plunger 1/4 turn to the left and slide it so the side nearest the barrel is at the prescribed weight marking. (2) Lock the ring in place by making a 1/4 turn to the right. (3) Make sure that the horse's mouth contains no feed. (4) Remove the cover from the tip of the syringe. (5) Insert the syringe tip into the horse's mouth at the space between the teeth. (6) Depress the plunger as far as it will go, depositing paste on the back of the tongue. (7) Immediately raise the horse's head for a few seconds after dosing.

PARASITE CONTROL PROGRAM: All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program with particular attention being paid to mares, foals and yearlings. Foals should be treated initially at 6 to 8 weeks of age, and routine treatment repeated as appropriate. Consult your veterinarian for a control program to meet your specific needs. lverchoice® (ivermectin) Equine Paste effectively controls gastrointestinal nematodes and bots of horses. Regular treatment will reduce the chances of verminous arteritis caused by Strongylus vulgaris.
