Surgical Hand Antiseptic Apply to clean, dry hands and nails. Clean under nails with a nail pick. Nails should be maintained with a 1 -millimeter free edge. Dispense a half palmful (approximately 3.0 mL) of solution in one hand. Dip the fingers of the opposite hand into the solution and work in under the nails. Spread the remaining solution over the hand and up to just above the elbow. Rub thoroughly for 30 seconds or until dry, paying particular attention to the nails, cuticles and interdigital spaces. Using another half palmful (approximately 3.0 mL), repeat with the other hand. Dispense another half palmful (approximately 3.0 mL) of solution into either hand and reapply to all aspects of both hands up the wrists. Rub thoroughly for 30 seconds or until dry. Healthcare Personnel Hand Antiseptic Apply to clean, dry hands and nails. Dispense a half palmful (approximately 3.0 mL) into the palm of one hand. Spread the solution evenly to cover both hands up to the wrists, paying particular attention to the nails, cuticles and interdigital spaces. Rub hands for 15 seconds or until dry.
