Side Effects & Adverse Reactions
Information on Biovita Skin Whitening Capsules:
Many people are searching for the medication “Biovita” because they are interested in learning the side effects associated with a line of skin whitening capsules manufactured in Sri Lanka and India. This skin whitener should not be confused with the infant probiotic that shares the same name and is sold in the United States. Skin whitening capsules are often sold in online pharmacies where they are purchased by consumers in other countries - including the United States. This product is not sold in the United States so the FDA has not researched it. For this reason, it should be used with caution.
Skin whitening products have been associated with many harmful side effects including headaches, vomiting, insomnia, indigestion, allergic reactions, rashes, swelling, hair loss, anxiety, depression, white spots on nails, numbness, and hormone disruption. Since the FDA has warned against their use, they are probably best avoided. This is especially true for capsules ordered from online foreign pharmacies (these products are not regulated and you have no way of knowing what you are actually ingesting).
For more information, check out this article discussing the research available on the safety and effectiveness of skin whitening products.
Side Effects of Biovita Infant Probiotics:
Biovita has not been approved by the FDA so its safety and effectiveness are unknown (the FDA has so far “approved no specific health claims for probiotics"). Although probiotics do not generally cause adverse reactions, they can cause indigestion if overused. If you decide to supplement your infant’s diet with Biovita, use no more than the recommended dose and watch for any signs of discomfort.
Do not administer this product to patients who are Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or Glucose-glalactose malabsorption.
