1. Verify that the appropriate list number of the solution has been selected.
2. Remove bag of LN460A AS-3 from over-wrap. Notes: The over-wrap serves as a moisture barrier and upon removing the solution bag small droplets of condensation may be present. This is considered normal. The AS-3 solution should be used within 8 hours of removing the over-wrap.
3. Inspect the LN460A AS-3 bag:
Ensure that the AS-3 has not expired.
Ensure that the luer cap is attached.
Ensure that the breakable seal is fully attached.
Ensure that the bag is not leaking.
Ensure that the AS-3 fluid is clear.
Note: Some opacity of the plastic due to moisture absorption during the sterilization process may be observed. This is normal and does not affect the quality or safety. The opacity will diminish gradually.
4. Using aseptic technique, remove luer cap from luer connector.
5. Using aseptic technique, luer attach the AS-3 to the anticoagulant line of the apheresis disposable.
6. Open the in-line breakable seal.
Hold the in-line breakable seal.
Open the seal by bending the tubing at the seal in a forward and backward motion.
7. Hang the CP2D with ports down on the left IV pole.
8. The Haemonetics LN460A AS-3 is now ready to prime the disposable.
Note: The collection procedure must be initiated within 4 hours of attaching the solutions to the disposable.
